"The Beav" would like to PUBLICLY thank several of our members for personally helping support Randy's ventures in Tutaweza. John McLean, Brian Soukup, and Paul McCoy have all made generous contributions to the "Randy's Kids". These Sertoman's financial support will allow additional Tanzanian orphans to attend secondary school on Tutaweza scholarships. Way to go, guys!

Larry Glass told us a story about Jesus Christ, construction worker, and how he forgot his lunch.

Lee Cooper, with Ken's help, has become our new "Program Czar". He is going back to the "old system" of assigning a date for each Sertoman to be responsible for that meeting's program. I'm sure Lee will be in close contact with those responsible for upcoming programs!
Bob Kopplin told us that he and his wife just celebrated "38 years of wedded bliss ~ that's his story and he's sticking to it".
Dave thanked Ed and Phyllis Stoner for sharing their beautiful house and property with us in providing this year's location for the Installation. Also to Randy and Sue Beaver for two days "in getting everything prepared and broken down afterwards".
Dave also thanked everyone who served on the Board with him last year and "made last year so enjoyable for him".
Nathan Scott told us that Turning Point's Golf Tournament, rescheduled from June because it was snowing, is coming up again this Thursday, the 30th.. Jim Nutt, Bill Green, Ken Borrett, and Lee Cord were the lucky winners in the Turning Point golf tournament at Fox Acres.

NEW DIRECTORY!
OK guys, listen up! Norm has undertaken the responsibility for (again) providing us with a Sertoma Directory.
He will be handing out forms soon, and taking pictures over the next couple of Fridays. Needless to say, Norm is a busy guy, and would like to see this done as quickly as possible. If you want to be pictured in the directory, be at the meeting for the next few Fridays. OR, if you are unable to attend one of the next several meetings, then view the form and send the info to Norm. (CLICK HERE TO SEE/DOWNLOAD). to save time, you can also print out the form and give it to Norm on Friday.
Norm's email is norm@rehme.com
If you prefer to provide a photo, please send it to him as a jpg no larger than 4x5 at 250dpi. |

Dave also shared with us a DVD Sertoma International just sent him on "How to be President". Turns out he was just joking about that, but he DID just receive a DVD from Sertoma on "How to Recruit New Members". He has offered to share with any who are interested.
Ed Caffrey told us that Ronny Bush just had surgery on BOTH KNEES last week! Dave B. said his wife saw Ronny at the Dr. on Thursday, and he's starting to get around pretty well, Dave tells us. By the time you read this, he'll probably be skiing!
Randy told us that, at the last Board Meeting, we voted to help support CASA's upcoming golf tournament on September 21st by buying a sponsorship and another foursome, for a total involvement of a gazillion dollars.
John K, in our new beer Czars continued absence, has put together a signup sheet for the first home game at Hughes Stadium. It will be on Saturday, Sept. 8, at noon. Beer servers are asked to be there by 9:45 a.m. All persons in the serving stand MUST have gone through TIPS training within the last three years. Mr. K says there will be at least one more session, on Sept. 5th at 6 P.M. at the Hughes Room, on the second floor of Hughes Stadium. Parking passes will be distributed next Friday at the meeting. Parking passes are now $10 at the gate, so don't NOT get one!

Chuck Blazek
|
On August 22nd, a past member of our club, Chuck Blazek, died at his home "after a short, valiant struggle with cancer."
A mass was said today (Wednesday) at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Chuck's name to the Colorado State University Athletics Scholarship Fund in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Friends may send condolences to the family at bohlenderfuneralchapel.com. If you'd like to see the obituary for Chuck, CLICK HERE |
Carl Glaser told us that 1) on Wednesday, he reached the "prodigious level" of having purchased 500 Growlers at O'Dells brewery, and 2) On Saturday, he and Jill had an open house of/at his newly-renovated building at 217 Jefferson. He had 15 gallons of beer, wine, wraps, desserts, and other good food. (It was a lot of fun!)
Larry Abrahamson says that if you haven't gotten your entry in for the D.A.T. Tournament, you are SOL! Be There Or Else!
Ken Borrett bragged that, as of August 7th, Kay has put up with him for 42 years!
Terry Danielson told us how Dave Blomberg "pranked" him last week with the banquet, telling Terry that he was going to have to "take over, he was too tired."
Terry had a brag for everyone who worked with him on the last two Boards who made everything work so well. He also told us how Ken Borrett graciously accepted the Foot in Mouth award at the installation banquet, even though he wasn't the correct recipient. (Sounds like we might have next year's winner already!!!) Terry tells us that the real culprits here are the ones who nominated Ken for the position. (Can you hear the hootin' and hollerin' going on???)
Dick Acott's Granddaughter, Madison, hit an over-the-fence home run for Poudre against Rocky recently, beating Rocky for the first time in 40 years!

Perhaps America and Europe should consider changing their currencies too.
Due to the global war on terrorism, many terrorist organizations have had their finances frozen. Consequently, they have resorted to counterfeiting.
The Canadians have decided to redesign their currency to prevent the radical Muslims from even touching it! It is also hoped that this will have a positive effect on tourism. Since this innovative technique relies heavily on the fact that Muslim terrorists have to kill themselves if they see a naked woman. Anyone who might be offended SHOULD NOT

Board |
The Board of Directors is now scheduled to meet on the second Monday of the month. The time, 5:30 P.M. is the same and the meeting place is the same . . . North American Title, at 712 Whalers Way. Ask Chris MacDonald. It's his place. |

After putting her grandchildren to bed, a grandmother changed into old slacks and a droopy blouse and proceeded to wash her hair. As she heard the children getting more and more rambunctious, her patience grew thin. At last she threw a towel around her head and stormed into their room, putting them back to bed with stern
warnings.
As she left the room, she heard the three-year-old say
with a trembling voice, 'Who was THAT?'
