The Board voted in a new member at its last meeting. Paul Jay Gerdes applied and was approved for membership. (I think this is his picture)
This is the guy who called International to find out where there was a Sertoma Club in town . . . Intn'l. faxed his info to Bill Benton, who called Jay. The rest, as they say, is history.
Jay owns is a Sales Consultant with DaVinci Sign Systems in Windsor. Welcome him to the club when you see him!

President's Day is next monday . . . .do you know where YOUR flags are??

Dick Ziporlin tells us that, in April, he is planning a spaghetti sauce contest to be held on April 12th from 4 - 6 P.M.
It will be at the Elks Club again, and bowling is an option.
We had a fun meeting last week at O'Dells Brewery, thanks to Carl, who apparently owns a lot of stock in the company.
They rolled out the red carpet for us, including a tour and a
free sampler of beer!

Join us for an elegant evening filled with glamorous evening gowns, red
Join us for an elegant evening filled with glamorous evening gowns, red carpet and paparazzi, a Night at the Oscars will kickoff the Project Smile endowment campaign and recognize top investors in the program thus far. Based around the actual Oscars event, the evening will provide a unique approach to a silent auction, a live auction and the presentation of “Smilies” to top contributors.
Project Smile is a non-profit partnership between the business community, the local community and Irish Elementary School. The program sponsors children with extreme dental needs, providing the monetary resources and coordination to help the children receive the dental care they need. Monthly commitments are made from companies and individuals sponsoring the children and children are treated based upon severity of their situation.
In its first six months Project Smile helped more than 80 children receive dental services. The program is piloted through Irish Elementary, but organizers hope to expand the program in the near future.
Arrive and park at First Presbyterian Church parking lot on College Ave. between 5 PM and 6 PM and enjoy a ride to the Oscars in style. Treat your spouse or significant other to a stretch limo ride to the front door of the Hilton. Arrive at the red carpet “first class”.
Call Holli Milenski at 484-9090 to reserve your ride.

BEER BASH (or Foam on the Range)
On the Beer Bash and fellowship happy hour, Pitcher's sports bar will be the place we will do this. Each 3rd Thursday of the month, we'll meet from 5 to 7, and the prices are excellent, I'm told.
Even if you don't drink, come for the fellowship. Soft drinks are available. There is also free pool, and possibly a discount on snacks in the future. The happy hour price of beer is $2.00, and house micro-brews are $3.00. (Updated 2/14/08)
