The SOW
(Sertoman of the
Week) |
|

John
Pharris (R), hands off the trophy to the new SOW, RYAN
KRUSE
|
|
OUR SOW:
1. Has
never traveled outside of North America
2.
Despite this fact, our SOW dreams of travel to
Australia and New Zealand
3.
He also dreams of sky-diving, scuba diving, attending
all four of golf's major tournaments, and fishing in
Alaska, Belize, and New Zealand.
4.
Attended a Brittany Spears concert.
5.
Has had 3 life-threatening experiences in his life:
1. At age 2, he was dropped onto his head onto a
tile floor 2) At age 4, he was nearly swept away by
ocean currents, to be rescued at the last moment by his
mother, and 3) more recently, had a close call with
death at Lake Powell.
6.
While returning from Cheyenne one day, our SOW had a
very harrowing moment . . . after feeling a "rumble in
his stomach", he had to pull over and "make a quick run"
to the rock outcroppings at the state line. He
tells us that, without benefit of anything in the car
to use, it was the last time he saw that t-shirt.
7.
was on the golf team while in High School.
8.
Has lived in Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins.
9.
Has worked in lawn mowing and landscaping in his career.
10.
Was in a fraternity while in college.
11.
Received a B.S. degree in Business Management.
12.
Has 2 daughters, and has been married for 8 years.
13.
Is married to Julie, with daughters Ellen and Lilly.
It was
added by John that our SOW is a member of the million
dollar roundtable for Northwest Mutual Life.
IT'S RYAN
KRUSE, OF COURSE!

SIMPLE SIMON met a Pie man going to the fair.
Said Simple Simon to the Pie man,
'What have you got there?'
Said the Pie man unto Simon,
'Pies, you Dumb Ass'

An
ex-Sertoman, Bill Hanson, had a $25 brag for being
sober for 25 YEARS now!
Norm
bragged that we got the LAST picture necessary to
complete the directory!
Perry
McCormick bragged that, (1) Two weeks ago, he had
knee replacement surgery on one knee, and (2) He's
wearing pantyhose
Randall Beaver had a brag that was SO SHORT I
didn't even hear it!

Our next flag day will be
Memorial Day

|
Carl Glaser bragged on what a "great guy" John
McLean was, and lamented the loss of John's
traditional St. Patty's day get-together.
Carl tried to pull something together along those
lines, but he said there "just wasn't time".
Mr. Willard said "maybe next year we can get it
started".
John
K. told us about the proposed beer sales in
conjunction with the KISS concert coming up on
April 19th at Hughes Stadium.
As it
turns out, the person sponsoring the concert lost
was outbid by 260,000.
Nathan Scott was back, asking for a $1,500
sponsorship for Turning Point's Pedal To The Point
bike tour. It will be on Sunday, August
10th. The Overland Sertoma Club is their
"Title Sponsor" he says, and will be headlined as
sponsor. He says there is also a golf
tournament coming up (to be played at Highland
Meadows) on June 20th. $600 for a team.
Randy asked him to come back later on this Spring
to remind us of these dates.
Randy reminded us
that the spaghetti dinner is coming up April 12th!
Our
newest member, Jay Gerdes, had a brag (and a
check!) for the Foundation. Seems that last
Monday his poor wife, Jeannie, has put up with him
for 21 years!
Gary
Ross, in Jim Nutt's absence, bragged about how he
and Gary Cassell had a "threesome with Nutt", and,
during discussion, they discovered that between
the three of them, there "wasn't one organ
working". Gary's brag was that Nutt said he
had an organ that was working. (Maybe he
could play for a church!??!)

Maury Dobbie
|
Last Friday we
had Maury Dobbie speak with us. Maury
is president and CEO of the Northern
Colorado Economic Development Corporation.
mdobbie@ncedc.com
She started in entrepreneurship when she was
19. She's been a woman's business
leader for over 30 years, a "trailblazer
serving the community", is involved with
Rotary, has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and
rides a Harley.
She spoke with us with us concerning just
that . . . Northern Colorado economic
development, and all that entails.
Pretty interesting, and more involved than
you would imagine. |
BEER BASH
It's been suggested that the Thursday evening
get-together at Pitchers for April is going to be
at either Pappys or Maya Cove by unanimous
proclamation of all those at the meeting this
month. (OK, OK, the proclamation was for
Pappys . . . but it has since been mentioned that
Maya Cove might work well, too. I'll let you
know.)
