CASA HOUSE

Proceeds from this event will benefit:

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), Inc. of Larimer County is a non-profit organization that trains volunteers to speak up for children who are abused, neglected or abandoned by their families. A CASA volunteer learns about the child’s needs through interviews with teachers, therapists, doctors, relatives and anyone who may have information on the child’s situation. They then are able to make recommendations to the Court about what is in the best interest of the child. CASA has served Larimer County since 1984.  Last year CASA volunteers advocated for 143 of these children…about 1/3 of those who could benefit from these services in our community.

Harmony House Visitation Center for children was opened in 1991 in a historic farmhouse on Harmony Road in Fort Collins, when it was donated to CASA to help children remain connected to their non-custodial family members while families work toward healthy communication and parenting. In August of 2000 an anonymous donor purchased a second house in Loveland.  In 2006, 386 children and their families used the Harmony Houses for over 4,000 supervised visits & custody exchanges.
