The Kenya coffee is produced mostly from the north slopes of the mountains in Africa; grown mainly in the
central region of Mt. Kenya.
Peaberry
is the name for a single seed (or bean) that forms in the coffee cherry rather
than the usual two. Many people believe that this single bean develops with
much more concentrated flavor as a result of its singularity.
African tribesmen originally believed the coffee cherries held magical powers. The
tribesmen crushed the cherries and mixed them with fat for strength and endurance during
hunting and war.
This coffee has the winey acidity and bright, hearty character that makes the African
coffees some of the most famous in the world. We take this coffee a step further with
a darker roast than most of our coffees; not dark enough, however, to hide the
delicious flavor of the Kenya Peaberry.
